Photo of the Week: The Grand Canyon

Destinations, Photo of the Week, Travel News, Tips & More, U.S.A.

-> A weekly snapshot {sometimes two, or three…} and musings from my WANDERful life. <-

I can’t believe it’s been almost two years since Charles and I hiked into the Grand Canyon on my 30th birthday! I am a HUGE Grand Canyon fan – it’s truly something that must be seen in person in order to be fully comprehended.

The enormity of it {Grand Canyon National Park includes over a million acres of land}, the fact that the Grand Canyon formed SO many years ago {the oldest rocks in the canyon are close to 2000 million years old} and the landscape’s sheer beauty {see photos below… and those were snapped on a rainy, overcast day} make it a definite must-see.

-> Goodbye 20s. Hello 30! <-

I’ll never forget my Grand Canyon experience. Have you been?

    The Grand Canyon is amazing. Yet the fresh quality of the erosion (think drainage ditch after a rain on an inclined road) suggests a recent event. As in, a few thousand years ago, tops. Interesting subject, but tangential: glad you’re enjoying your explorations!
